The company was founded as Standard Biodiesel in 2005 by John Wick, who developed the original oil collection and transformation systems to produce a conventional biodiesel fuel. Collections were accomplished using general-purpose vehicles and small tanks. Recurrent routes made for widely varying intake of WVO.

By 2007 the company had established a manufacturing facility north of Everett, WA, and was servicing about 1,400 restaurants. A wholesale-retail site was patronized by a growing number of farmers and truckers. The company ran its own vehicles on its biodiesel product. Restaurant clients were won by word of mouth and by diligent efforts of a sales force and our field technicians.

By 2008 a system was in place to track collections and more efficiently schedule pickups. The company began to service more locations, rising to about 2,500 with the acquisition of an oil collection company serving Idaho and Eastern Washington.

In late 2008 and 2009 attention turned increasingly to chain operations, and the company expanded into Oregon and California. Standard Biofuels USA LLC was formed to reflect the broader operation and to reflect our shift away from older biodiesel technology to more efficient methods of fuel production. In second quarter 2010 we are servicing some 3,500 accounts at over 4,000 locations, yielding a projected annual volume of over 2.5 million gallons of WVO.

At the end of 2011, SB was servicing over 6,900 restaurants and commercial kitchens in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada and is planning expansion into other states west of the Rockies in 2012. Chain operators and large commercial kitchens in the West are encouraged to inquire. We have numerous payment and collection options available.

Operating efficiency is achieved in part by our professional field operators and by our "just in time" approach to WVO collection.

Oil Collection Pros

Our well trained professional oil technicians arrive ready to retrieve oil from your specified location promptly and without disruption of your business. We provide an appropriate container based on your volume, or you can use an in-house container or re-use the original "cubes" provided by your oil supplier.

Just-in-time Collection

Initially we rely on your estimate of monthly volume to schedule collections. However, over time we increasingly rely on your actual history in order to develop an oil-usage profile of your location. Our goal is to make collections a few days before your container is full. Of course, you can call for service any time your container is over 80% full. We can adapt to your time-of-day requirements as well; for example if night pickups are required - or inappropriate - we'll try to match your schedule as best we can.

Collection Management Software

We use customized, web-based software developed by Clark Internet Publishing that tracks collections, service requests and communications, giving us a real-time view of our service relationship with you. Other features of the system enable us to schedule and route our field technicians to provide you with fast, efficient, just-in-time service.
